As MANAGER and owner of SHANNON STAR PROMOTIONS who manage & promote the very colourful NEW APACHES which features BIG CHIEF RISING STAR. I Would like to make a Statement. I did a lot of research before I took over the sole running of the Band. THE NEW APACHES are a very colourful act in their own right fronted by the Popular and Original chief BIG CHIEF RISING STAR who fronted the original APACHE SHOWBAND which was managed at that time by the Late TONY LOUGHMAN. BIG CHIEF RISING STAR toured SPAIN ENGLAND SCOTLAND & IRELAND during the fantastic years dating 1988-2008. THE BAND DO DRESS UP IN NATIVE AMERICAN costume as that is what they wore during the the Dates stated. Although BIG CHIEF RISING STAR Ceased touring in 2008 he continued to do guest spots with different bands including THE SHOWBAND STARS working with many of IRELANDS cream of the crop showband stars eg.The late DOC CARROLL, The late BRENDAN O'BRIEN, EILEEN REID to name but a few. BIG CHIEF RISING STAR has been a chief for over 30yrs now and I was delighted to tempt him out of retirement and return to touring. THE NEW APACHES are NOT a TRIBUTE to anyone except themselves!! The support I have been given since bringing our chief back out onto the scene has been huge and after releasing their new single/ Video SONG & DANCE BAND to radio and TV the fan base has rocketed.
I add that after meeting with many Promoters and Venues, they have expressed to me they are delighted to have THE NEW APACHES in their sight!
As the Manager I ask please kindly, for respect to one of Irelands most colourful entertainers BIG CHIEF RISING STAR! And His Band!
THE APACHES feature one of Ireland’s top entertainers, Damian McCarthy. For over twenty years, ‘BIG CHIEF RISING STAR’ fronted the Apaches Showband and became one of the country’s most prominent and colourful showmen.
With his flamboyant stage presence and powerful vocals, he made a name for himself on the showband circuit, amassing a huge fan base who continue to support and follow him to this very day.
To the sheer delight of his many fans, BIG CHIEF RISING STAR has once again donned his buckskin shirt, eagle feather headdress and war paint and taken to the stage.
His five-piece band of Apaches are all accomplished and experienced musicians who, with their state-of-the art sound and lighting system, put on a spectacle that no one will want to miss.
